In addition to specializing in reservoir engineering, Richard has experience leading integrated teams in the evaluation of complex reservoirs. He has served as project manager on domestic and international assignments. Typically, such projects, undertaken for a varied client group, include one or more of the following elements:

  • Horizontal Drilling Stategies
  • Waterflood Feasibility and Optimization
  • Reserve Evaluation for Acquistion and Divestments
  • Reservoir Performance Studies
  • Volumetric and Material Balance Studies
  • Complex Well Test Analysis - Pressure Transient and Nodal
  • Production Decline Analysis and Forcasting
  • Open and Cased Hole Log Interpretation

1990 - 1994, Environmental Engineer, Environmental Protection Agency

Evaluate Class II injection permits using open and cased hole logs, core and pressure data, nodal analysis, fluid flow modeling and mechanical integrity tests. Assist operators in the design and analysis of pressure transient tests.

1987 - 1989, Lead Reservoir Engineer, Diamond Energy Operating, Inc.

Prepare five waterflood feasibility studies for the purpose of lease acquisition and implementation. Develop lease participation parameters for waterflood unitization hearings at the Oklahoma Corporation Commission. Prepare economic evaluation of oil and gas reserves for property acquisition.

1984 - 1987, Casper District EOR Engineer, Texaco, Inc.

Rank and cull enhanced oil recovery projects (EOR) in the District. Model waterflood and enhanced oil recovery performance behavior. Design and implement two polymer augmented waterfloods. Conduct material balance studies on water drive gas reservoirs. Qualified reserve estimator responsible for reserve audits on recently acquired properties in Gulf of Mexico.

1981 - 1984, Tulsa Division Engineer, Texaco, Inc.

Identify and develop infill drilling prospects and workover opportunities anyalizing transient pressure tests, production data, open and cased hole logs, PVT and core data. Review AFE’s for non-operated properties. Conduct performance reviews of mature waterfloods to maximize rofitability
